Residual Bowel App is intended for use by Canadian healthcare professionals (primarily surgeons) to track bowel resections and provide an estimate of the bowel remainings.
It functions as a measuring device for this data which experienced medical professionals can use, in combination with published medical research, as part of their decision-making process.
Capture resection or residual data: Record the length of each resected or residual bowel region manually, using the live augmented reality environment, or visual estimates of the colon.Create a patient report, including:* Patient data (age, height, weight)* Resection/residual data Measurements of each resected/residual length Calculations of the estimated missing/remaining small bowel and colon* Additional patient information Small bowel resection location Status of ileocecal valve, G-tube, distal feeding tube, and stomaEstimated remaining intestinal length is calculated based on calculations adapted from the study entitled, “Establishing norms for intestinal length in children”.
